Day 2: Thanksgiving Challenge

When the world around us has so much to see, yet we never take the time to look. On Day 2 of the Thanksgiving Challenge, let’s take the time to thank God for our vision and see the world around us. Without the gift of sight, we wouldn’t see the abundance of autumn colors, the blue ocean sea or brightly colored green grass. We wouldn’t see the beauty of our skin color, eyes or hair. Our vision is a blessed gift of God, to see and seek the wondrous beauty around us. Many of us take our sight for granted, and never really take the time to appreciate God’s artwork.

Today, be thankful for your vision. Appreciate the colors of everything. From today forward, be aware of what is around you and absorb it all. Go on a hike and view the colors, go somewhere new, explore nature, watch others smile and laugh, and pay attention to what is around you. You may see someone crying, that is your window to offer empathy. You may notice someone carrying a heavy box, that is your window to offer assistance. Everything that God has given us, is for a purpose. So use your eyesight wisely. NOTE: Be careful of what you watch on TV, or what you are allowing your family to watch on their phones. I know many of you don’t want to hear this (including myself) — but it’s true.

What does God say about eyesight and vision:

The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!

MATTHEW 6:22–23

Today see the beauty, be the light in this world.
